From the Northern Sami word Báhkavuotna meaning “warm fjord”, Bakfjord is a small fjord found in Finnmark County, Norway’s both most northern and most eastern county.
The logo lockups are all made with a warm orange and a dark greyish blue colour: these colours represent the midnight sun and the landscape that is so characteristic for Northern Norway. I wanted this logo to be minimalistic and simple yet gritty, because it perfectly represents said landscape, while also flirting with classic, clean Scandinavian design. The mountains are made to look like the mountains surrounding Bakfjord, with the white space in between representing the outlet where the fjord meets the ocean—and the perfect circle symbolizing the low hanging sun that never sets. This sun can be seen throughout the rest of the branding.
